ITINERARY

Day 1: Islamabad

    • Arrive in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.
    • Spend the day exploring the city, or relax at your hotel.

Day 2: Islamabad to Naran

  • The first day on the bike starts with a climb out of Islamabad.
  • The ride takes you through the beautiful Naran Valley, with views of the Himalayas.
  • Distance: 180 km (112 mi)
  • Elevation gain: 4,000 m (13,000 ft)

Day 3: Naran to Chilas

    • Today’s ride is along the Indus River, with views of Nanga Parbat, the ninth-tallest mountain in the world.
    • The route is mostly flat, with a few short climbs.
    • Distance: 100 km (62 mi)
    • Elevation gain: 1,000 m (3,300 ft)

Day 4: Chilas to Skardu

    • Today’s ride is the toughest of the trip, with a long climb up the Karakorum Highway.
    • The views from the top are worth the effort, with snow-capped peaks in all directions.
    • Distance: 150 km (93 mi)
    • Elevation gain: 3,000 m (9,800 ft)

Day 5: Skardu

    • Take a rest day in Skardu, a beautiful town located at the confluence of the Indus and Shyok rivers.
    • Visit Skardu Fort, a 17th-century fort that overlooks the town.
    • Explore the local bazaars, or take a jeep ride to Shangri-La Resort, a luxurious resort set in a stunning mountain vall

Day 6: Skardu to Khaplu

  • Today’s ride is along the Shyok River, with views of the Deosai National Park.
  • The road is mostly flat, with a few short climbs.
  • Distance: 120 km (75 mi)
  • Elevation gain: 1,000 m (3,300 ft)

Day 7: Khaplu to Hushe

  • Today’s ride takes you through the Shigar Valley, a beautiful valley with orchards and traditional villages.
  • The road is mostly flat, with a few short climbs.
  • Distance: 80 km (50 mi)
  • Elevation gain: 500 m (1,600 ft)

Day 8: Hushe to Gulmit

    • Today’s ride is along the Karakorum Highway, with views of the Baltoro Glacier, one of the longest glaciers outside the polar regions.
    • The road is mostly flat, with a few short climbs.
    • Distance: 100 km (62 mi)
    • Elevation gain: 1,000 m (3,300 ft)
